WHAT IS CDS EXAM ?
The combined Defence Services(CDS) Exam is a national level examination conducted by Union Public Services Commission(UPSC) in India .The exam is held twice a year with the aim of selecting candidates for admission into the Indian Military Academy (IMA) ,Indian Naval Academy(INA),Air force Academy(AFA) , and Officer’s Training Academy (OTA).
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA :
1.NATIONALITY :
Candidates must be Indian citizens or subject to certain conditions for candidates from Bhutan , Nepal or Tibetan refugees settled in India .
2.AGE LIMIT :
- For IMA: Unmarried Male candidates aged between 19 and 24 years.
- For INA: Unmarried Male candidates aged between 19 and 22 years.
- FOR AFA: Unmarried Male candidates aged between 19 and 23 years.
- FOR OTA(Women):Unmarried/Married Female candidates aged between 19 and 25.
3.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- For IMA/AFA/INA: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- FOR OTA:A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
EXAM PATTERN:
1.CDS(IMA,INA,AFA):
- Written Examinations :The Exam consists of three papers- English ,General knowledge , and Elementary Mathematics. Each paper is of 2 hours duration and carries 100 marks.
- Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who qualify written exams are called for an interview conducted by the services selection board(SSB).
2.CDS(OTA):
- Written Examination: The exam consists of two papers- English and General Knowledge. Each paper is of two hours duration and carries 100 marks.
- Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who qualify written exams are called for an interview conducted by the services selection board(SSB).
NOTE :For Admission to the Air Force Academy candidates have to qualify the written exams as well as Air Force Selection(AFSB) interview and medical examination.

Candidates can apply for the CDS Exam through the UPSC official websites https://www.upsc.gov.in/ .The Application process includes filling out the application form, uploading documents , and paying the application fee.

It’s important to thoroughly study and practice these topics to perform well in Mathematics paper of CDS exam. Additionally , referring to previous year question paper and mock tests can also be beneficial in familiarizing yourself with the exam pattern and level of dificulty.
